T-158 was replacement for initial T-156 track, Diehl 580P tracks were also tested but to use them, new sprocket wheels were needed. I really don't understand why Diehl tracks are in this list where US have T-158 tracks... two possible explanations, Diehl tracks are lighter or, it is cheaper to use Diehl tracks as many US allies are using Diehl tracks (also UK and France), and changing sprocket wheels is not that expensive at all.)
Because a) T156 tracks were a failure. b) T158 tracks covered Army's demand of 2000miles lifespan c) Enhanced T-158 targeting increase of lifespan to Diehl standards failed or was too expensive than actually buying Diehl tracks.
