Правильно, как это делает Израиль. Меркаву модернизируют в направлении улучшения защиты и СУО. Даже более длинную и мощную пушку не хотят, существующей хватает за глаза. Противотанковые возможности теряют былую актуальность, смысл новой платформы - в основном для установки 152 мм пушки, котораю "убивает" все, что обнаружено и представляет угрозу. Но это дорого и сложно. Резервы для улучшения защищенности у наших танков ещё есть, и улучшая СУО можно существенно повысить боевую эффективность. А разработка новых боеприпасов гораздо дешевле создания и внедрения новой платформы.

По КНР? хватит и десятка самолета-вылетов  Ту-95 и Ту-160. Порты Шанхая, Гонконга, плюс серия ударов в полосе нашего наступления на севере Китая и на пекин)
